Breitling's Windrider Starliner

When a watch maker with as much testosterone as Breitling brings a super feminine timepiece to the table you have to sit back and say “wow”!  How does this watch designer go from race cars and jet engines to pink Mother-of-pearl?  It’s called keeping up with the times.  Even the most masculine watch maker has a soft side, and Breitling shows theirs, with the release of the Windrider Starliner Women’s Watch.  There’s no denying that the Starliner is beautiful.  It comes in a variety of finishes, but I thought the Pink dial was a nice touch, so I will highlight the A7134054.K512.360A model. 

Let’s talk function, first.  The Women’s Windrider Starliner is a Swiss Quartz watch.  It is precise and accurate, not to mention, easy to maintain.  It is also a certified Chronometer.  This watch is every bit a quality Breitling timepiece, featuring an anti scratch, anti-reflective sapphire crystal.  It is made well and water resistant to 330 feet, but you won’t be in a hurry to get this watch wet.

The Starliner is ultra feminine, with a pink Mother-of-Pearl dial, which is accented with sparkling diamonds.  The bezel is also covered in diamonds and the bracelet is crafted of polished steel.  Ladies, you really should take another look at Breitling…they offer brawn and beauty.

Breitling's Bentley Watches

In the world of high end professional timepieces, Breitling takes the lead.  They know precision timekeeping and innovative design.  Their creations adorn the wrists of many high profile celebrities, because they have become a huge status symbol, and a highly sought after brand.  It is the look, which will get your attention, but it’s the quality and performance, which will keep your interest, peaked.  Breitling watches offer functionality, which is out of this world, not to mention that they are virtually indestructible.  The Bentley men’s watch collection is a great place to start out tour de Breitling.

The Breitling Bentley GMT offers a bold design, featuring multiple time zones displays.  This chronograph has a styling, which was inspired after its namesake, The Bentley.  The dial is decorated, by the use of “totalizer” rims, featured on the Bentley dashboards.  The inner bezel rotates to provide easy reading of the names of the 24 cities it displays.  The design allows for easy reading of all of the world’s time zones, as well. 

This men’s watch comes in a variety of dial colors and bracelet materials, but all are masculine and offer a commanding presence.  Breitling just can’t be beat, when it comes to designing the most powerful timepieces.

Breitling's Bold Blackbird

Breitling watches are big, bold, and beautiful. Ok, maybe beautiful is not a term frequently used to describe a men’s watch, but Breitling’s are different. They take watch making seriously from the inside, out. One look at the Breitling Blackbird Men’s Automatic and you will see what I mean. This watch is from the Blackbird Collection, and is one of the watch maker’s most impressive designs. It comes encased in 18 carat white gold, and features Breitling’s unidirectional rotating bezel design. The dial is presented in black, as well as the sub dials. This is a chronograph, accurate to 1/4^th of a second, and is a certified chronometer. The Swiss made mechanical is an automatic winding chronometer, which has passed all tests and been officially certified. As with most Breitling watches, the case is large and commanding, measuring 44mm in width. The dial is illuminated by silver toned luminescent hands and indexes. The strap on the Breitling Blackbird is crafted of 18 carat white gold, to match the case. Breitling watch designs are worn by some of the world’s most powerful men, because they exude strength and endurance. The Blackbird is a solid Breitling choice and will be a ruggedly handsome addition to any mans’ wrist.

If you  like your chronograph watch to have a bit more bling then the Breitling Chronomat 01 Diamondworks Watch is for you.    The 43.5mm case has a large presence available in either 18 carat white gold or rose gold and is generously decorated with two rows of diamonds.  A mother of pearl textured dial with three sub dials at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock display chronograph functions in style.  The date window can be found peeking through the diamonds at 4:30.  Gold hour and minute hands as well as the dot at 12 o’clock are coated in luminosity for easy viewing.  A unidirectional bezel with engraved numbers has three rows of diamonds between the minutes.  Raised squares set with diamonds can be found at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock.  And yet more diamonds can be found at the hour markers in raised double rows.   Certified Caliber 01 movement developed in-house by Breitling this watch is certified COSC.  Chrono pushes can be found at 2 and 4 o’clock flanking the crown.  Strap options are green reptile on the 18 carat white gold model and brown reptile on the rose gold.    For the discriminating watch connoisseur the Breitling Chronomat 01 Diamondworks is not only pure luxury and incredible style  but it  follows in the tradition of Breitling chronograph watches you can count on.

If you are new to the world of watches, Breitling Areomarine Colt Automatic should indeed be the watch you start your research with and in all probability you will look no further.  This entry level timepiece by Breitling is very modestly priced even though it is the result of the same labor of love that goes into making each and every Breitling watch and proudly shares the podium with its counterparts.

The original construction of the case has an incredible guilloche pattern on the dial with contrasting furrows that shines beautifully through the glare proof sapphire coating. Hands are big enough for absolute legibility at all times but  41.10 mm diameter and 12.40 mm thickness make it pretty sleek to fit even a smaller size wrist beautifully. The crown is screw locked and is made specifically shock proof for the sports lovers. It’s also water resistant to 500 meters or 1650 ft.

It comes in a choice of three dials and a varied range of bracelets. Not just the technical aspect of Breitling Areomarine Colt Automatic but also the polished and satin-brushed surfaces makes it an aesthetic delight.

Launched in the summer of 2009, celebrating hundred and twenty five wonderful years of Breitling timepieces is Breitling Windrider Chronomat B01. No wonder then, this latest chronograph from the aviation watch makers further pushes the already so high a bar that Breitling has set over these long winding years.

Breitling Windrider Chronomat B01 is indeed the first watch from Breitling to use their landmark B01 calibre in-house movement; designed as well as crafted 100% in the brand workshop.

The self winding chronograph movement incorporates a column-wheel switching mechanism and a vertical clutch, the most important touchstones of a well made chronograph.

The Breitling Windrider Chronomat B01 measures 43.5mm in diameter and is available in four different versions, all steel, two tone, steel with a gold bezel, and solid 18K rose/white gold. A range of 18 different dials are also at the discerning buyer’s disposal. The unidirectional rotating bezel has engraved numerals for excellent readability and turns smoothly with 240 teeth. The sapphire crystal is anti-reflective on both sides. Steel and two-tone models are water resistant to 500 meters, while the all-gold model to 100 meters.

This isn’t your everyday watch. The name “Breitling Bentley Mulliner Tourbillon” is synonymous to sophisticated royalty. Only the fusion of unequaled craftsmanship of Breitling with the extravagant opulence of Bentley can exude such eminent results.

What else can explain the most ingenious mechanical watch complications of Bentley Mulliner Tourbillon. The balance, balance-spring and escapement are contained within a carriage spinning on its axis, a construction which compensates for the variations that occur when a watch is in a vertical position.  Its heart is in the shape of hand-wound Breitling Calibre 18B, a tourbillon chronograph movement exclusive to Breitling for Bentley. Not only that,  its central hand is uniquely designed to revolve around the dial in half a minute instead of the usual 60 seconds assuring precise read-off of the fractions of a second, otherwise known as the ’30-second’ chronograph mechanism. It is also equipped with a 15-minute totalizer and a pointer-type date display.

Quite distinctly, such luxuries are rare to find. Rarer in this case as only a few dozen of Bentley Mulliner Tourbillon is assigned to be made by Breitling with no more than two a month and each one different from the other. Naturally then, you get to choose the case material (from platinum, yellow gold, rose gold or white gold), the dial color and the shade of the leather strap. The precious wooden ring on the caseback also has option of six different veneers, including burl walnut and madrona; left to be chosen at the fancy of its owner. All this to ensure that you never see an identical Bentley Mulliner Tourbillon in your life.

Indeed, there can only be one Breitling Bentley Mulliner Tourbillon.  Masterpieces can’t be imitated after all.
